When I click on "map all places for this person", the procedure seems to work in that my geotagged places are marked on a map. But the map itself has "For development purposes only" printed all over it, and there is an error message saying "This page can't load Google Maps correctly". What's going on?

I think what is happening is Google has started charging for Maps usage**, and to this, they require maps users to have an API key from Google, with billing payment information linked to that account
As far as I can see in the source code of the page that the maps appear on, no map key has been submitted to Google as part of the request, so Google is honouring it, but plastering the overlay to say "For Development Purposes Only" all over the map.
There are two possible answers to this that I can see:
1 - Reunion switch to using Open Street Maps - very similar to Google in capabilities and features, and at least for now free to use - https://www.openstreetmap.org/about
2 - allow a preference in the Reunion settings so that people can enter their own individual Google Maps API Key.
** The current arrangement is that you get a credit from Google each month of $200, and of most users of Reunion I imagine you'd never reach anywhere near $200 - my TNG website uses maps on quite a number of pages and my usage of Maps is well under the $200 a month.
