Sorry, to go off topic, but there are so many savvy Mac people on this list I hope someone can help me. I have a friend who operates two email addresses, one is hot mail, one is with her server. The problem is she rarely looks at hot mail and yet the auto-fill feature sometimes uses that address. (If I type "s" I get the correct address, if I inadvertantly type "su or sue" I get the hot mail addy. I'm perplexed that she doesn't answer me, and much later she writes, vaguely annoyed, that I have yet-again used the wrong address. I would like to completely delete that hot mail from my Mail program but I can't figure out "how". Oh, and her name isn't in the Address Book. There must be a way? Thank you. Lily

Re: Off Topic - Mail question
Interesting. sSrry I can't help you directly - looks like Tim has already done that - but I used to have an email account which is now discontinued, and I now use a ...gmail account. I would like to delete the old now unused account, as my Mac will sometimes think I'm still using the old account.
BUT, I have many, many family history related emails in that old account which I would NOT want to lose. Dozens are from relatives who have since died, for example. If I delete the account , will I still be able to access those older emails received in that account?
Sorry to digress a little.Rupert

Re: Off Topic - Mail question
All you need to do is deactivate the account locally on your Mac. The mail will stay as is for you to read until such time as you actually delete the account from your Mac. Go to the Accounts tab in Preferences in Mail.app (or the like place in other email programs). Deselect the checkbox for Enable this Account. That's all! (What you have done is halted your mail program from trying to collect email from said account. Files not affected.)Attached FilesBob White, Mac Nut Since 1985, Reunion Nut Since 1991
