I was given a bunch of digital images consisting of photos and documents from a third person's genealogy research. Some of the photos have peoples names on them, which has helped me learn the "real" names of people, marriage dates, etc.
I wanted to include these as sources when cited, as well as attach the image to the source for later reference. I can't decide which of these two approaches is best.
(1) Create a generic source; Attach all images used to this source; Put details of specific items in the citation (i.e. file name).
(2) Create a separate source for each item.
Option 1 seems it could lead to problems if the number of individual files used gets very large with regards to attached media. So, I'm leaning towards Option 2.
I don't want to create several hundred citations and then wish I'd taken a different approach. Any opinions as to which would be the better approach?
If there are other suggestions, I'm open.
