    Marriage Record

My ancestor's marriage has been recorded in the Dutch Reform Church of Fishkill Register. After his name are some letters I cannot interpret. I have copied the record, but I cannot past it here. How can I paste so a member of the forum can help me. Sorry for being so dense.

I think the best (only?) way to do this is to add it as an attachment. Just click the button 'Manage Attachments' and it will enable you to select the file you wish to attach.

    Hope this helps.

Sorry, I wasn't too clear. I want to add it to this post so some one can tell me what the letters mean. I was able to add it to marriage notes in th Family file.

Your question was clear, and The Wheeler Family had the right answer, but perhaps I can be a bit more explicit. When you reply to a post here, one of the "Additional Options" in the editing window is "Manage Attachments".

If you click the "Manage Attachments" button, a window will open where you have a choice to upload a file from your computer.

When you do that, the file becomes part of your message and is posted along with it.

You could also post a jpg file somewhere on your website and provide a link to it here.

Thanks. I have to figure out how to make the file smaller. I will get back.

It says, I think, "Widr," with the r superscript. So, "widower." born at Swede, Germany. Married to Wyntje de Lange, Widow of Nikolaas Schoonhof.

Yes, I think you are right. Now does anyone know where Swede, Germany was? I know he came from the Palatinate about 1709.

When was this document written? There was no unified Germany, but a bunch of independent German states before 1871.

Context of this entire passage would be helpful too, i.e. date, place, other names etc.
FYI, the line of text alongside the bracket at the right side appears (to me) to read:
                        “both liv. here at Fishkill.”
“Fishkill” could be Fishkill, Dutchess County, NY?

Google this: Swede, Germany, Palatinate about 1709 and see if it is helpful.

I think it was much more helpful than Meyers Orts- und Verkehrs-Lexikon des Deutschen Reichs seems to be in this case!

You're suggesting, I think, that the reference is to the Pfalz-Zweibr
