Is anyone else in the same mess I'm in? I am self-taught on the computer, so basically illiterate but somehow functional, and yet I administer [or did] 5 Family sites on Myfamily.com After their recent devastating announcement that they are closing their doors, I have to find a substitute and get all that massive amount of data migrated to a new location

Re: Substitute needed for myfamily.com
Dick Eastman has posted another article about possible candidates for replacing MyFamily.com. The first two that I cited on 8 July described FamilyLobby.com and Spokt.com. The most recent article describes MyGreatBigFamily.com. In comments, Eastman distinguishes it from TNG. It appears at:

Re: Substitute needed for myfamily.com
TNG is a good alternative if you want your own, personal web site behind your own custom domain name. This handout describes the costs and the pieces you need in place to do it. I like that the individual "person" pages are accessible to Google and show up in searches. This isn't always the case with database driven web trees.
If you want to do it, I strongly encourage your asking the hosting service to install the software for you. That way, all you need to do is upload a GED file and you're good to go.
