    Unlinking from parents

    Hello,
I've read the instructions for unlinking children from incorrect parents, but I'm concerned that if I unlink them, I don't have another set of parents to link them to--but the instructions say to link them to another set of parents. I haven't tried the process yet because I don't want to disappear an entire line inadvertently! Thanks for your help.

    Hi Linda,

If you don't have another set of parents to link them to then they simply won't be linked to any parents. They'll still be in the Family File, however, and will still be linked to any spouses and/or children that they have.

If the person I am und-linking has siblings to be kept together as a family, I simply create a parent (or two) with the name "Unknown". Later if I find their real name, it's an easy change or move; and if necessary, moving the unused ex-parent (renamed as "Available") into the Clipboard for later reuse.
