Relative Chart.

    Relative Chart.

    Can anyone help me please? I'm trying to make a Relative Chart, various people show up, parents, aunts and uncles but my 2nd cousins, for example, are not on the chart. I've tried a variety of different settings but to no avail. I feel I'm doing something wrong, but I don't know what. Any advice would be much appreciated.

    A relative chart will show all the blood relatives of the person who is used as the starting point for the chart.

    Basically what happens is that Reunion finds all the ancestors of the starting person, and then draws a chart with all those ancestors' descendants. Ancestors and other relatives of in-laws will not be included.

    For most people, the best way to include the greatest number of relatives in a chart is to start the chart from one of your children or grandchildren. Starting it from yourself will eliminate all your spouse's relatives except descendants.

      Hello Tim, many thanks for your help. May I give a bit more information - I start the chart from me, I haven't got any children, and there's my Grandmother. It also shows her sister, my Grandaunt, and she has three children but they don't show on the chart. I've got the settings at 10 generations up and down plus all people needed are checked. So I'm afraid I still don't understand why my 2nd cousins aren't on the chart. Once again any help would be much appreciated.

        Make sure you have the Prune Marked Ancestors Only box UNchecked. And make sure your chart layout does not have any hourglass options enabled. Both of these items can be checked in the initial chart pane before the chart is created.

          I don't know if this is relevant, but have you identified relatives in your tree? Shouldn't matter…

            Sorry for the late reply, I've been away on business. Yes all the relatives have been identified and now the chart functions as I want it. Many thanks for your help. Stephen
