    Sidebars

I am having trouble with my Reminders and Ages Sidebars. They used to work perfectly well, but since I've upgraded to OS X Yosemite, I get zero results for Reminders and very truncated results for Ages.
Solve this difficulty, please, then I'll post some more...

It is very possible to get no reminders --- if you happen to have seven or more days where there were no birthdays or anniversaries.

Please explain specifically how the ages results are truncated and one of us or Leister staff may be able to advise you.

      Thanks, Bob.
I take your point about the possibility of there being no reminders, but in the seven day period I set I know of at least ten birthdays and/or anniversaries... I also tried the 14 day setting and again there were no reminders.
As to the Ages being truncated, I can take my parents as an example. Although I set all the relationships - siblings, parents, grandparents, children, grandchildren - and know all the birth, marriage and death dates, this is all that was shown:
my father: his date of birth, the death of his grandfather and the date of his (my father's) burial; no mention of his four siblings, his parents, his four children or his eight grandchildren.
my mother: her date of birth and her burial; no mention of her three siblings, her parents, grandparents, children or grandchildren.
No doubt there is a solution - it's just beyond me.
      Grace to you.

Wow! I don't recall ever seeing a problem exactly like this. I'm thinking that maybe part of your family file is compromised. My advice is to contact Leister's Help Desk.

Have you tried rebuilding the cache files? It may not fix things, but it's a quick and easy step prior to contacting the help desk.

Make sure your Macintosh is set to the correct day, month and year. You can check this by clicking on the time on the right side of the menubar.

Thanks for that suggestion, Gregg. Time, date, month, year were all correct.

Thanks, Tim, but nothing changed - still no reminders and still truncated ages.

                  Re: Sidebars

Following through on the Reunion Help page steps to take, I can say the following:
                  A In regard to Reminders
                  1 the problem repeats;
2 the Reminder bar is set to
                  (a) include the next 14 days
                  (b) include birthdays for living people only
                  (c) include marriages for married couples only
                  (d) on startup, show reminders
I have pressed the Update button
3 symptoms - there are no results at all
4 trouble began after installing OS X Yosemite
5 there have been no screen messages
                  B In regard to Ages
                  1 the problem repeats
                  2 The Ages settings are
                  (a) siblings
                  (b) parents
                  (c) grandparents
                  (d) children
                  (e) grandchildren
                  (f) show pictures
                  (g) show ages as year/month/days
3 symptoms - shows only my father's birth and burial and the death of his grandfather; shows only my mother's birth and burial; I have all the details of births, marriages, deaths, burials; pictures are shown
                  C I am using Reunion 10.0.4
D I am using an iMac running OS X Yosemite 10.10.2, with 4GB memory; I am also using a MacBook Air running OS X 10.7.5, with 2GB memory
On my most recent Reunion file, I have 21,927 names; this is the one that is misbehaving.
On an older Reunion file, I have 21,474 names; and I have just discovered that it gives Reminders and Ages in full!
Tell me, please, what's the next step? I don't want to lose those 453 extra names and associated information, if possible.

                    Re: Sidebars

Open up your misbehaving family file in Reunion 10.

Choose Reunion > Preferences from the main menubar.

Click on "Dates" and select the "Feasibility Checking" tab.

Look in the section "Living age" -- "Age greater than" should be set to 110.

                      Gregg,

Thank you very much - I did as I was told and the Reminders bar and the Ages bar are no longer misbehaving, except there are no colours in the Reminders bar.

However, my People number has been reduced by 1 (!) and I would love to find the missing 453 (or should that be 454?) if possible.

It sounds like you have the older version of your family file open (the one you mentioned earlier.) The newer version has 21,927 people. You should only be keeping the older version of your family file as a backup and using the newer version as your master family file.

Thanks again, Gregg. All the colours (I'm stuck on Australian English spellings...) are now as they should be.

I think I confused myself as well as you in relation to the older and newer versions. Sorry for that. I am using the newer file as my master version.
