    Reunion 11 and Dropbox

This is the first time in a long time I've actually looked forward to an upgrade, to any prog!

I can't find any ref to the space needed in Db: I am nearly up to my limit already [14.4 of 14.7 Gb used]. How does Reunion cope with this?

Are the files permanent in Db, or only in transit as it auto-syncs to Touch?

    Cheers, Colin

You will need to put your entire family file onto Dropbox so the space required would be the size of your family file.

Any media files linked to the family file do not need to be moved to Dropbox.

      Thanks Greg,

Clearly I need to do some housework before I upgrade to clear space, but I'm a bit mystified as about the same time as I posted Michael Talibard said his Familyfile had ended up in Applications and John Bastin said hold down the command key to drag it to Documuents>Reunion Files.

That seems to contradict it being in Db, and I don't see why one should hold down the command key to move a file anyway.

      Cheers, Colin

The command-drag requirement is unique to the Applications folder. Normally, there is no need to hold keys down while dragging.

If we "move" the familyfile to Dropbox, then there will be no local copy on my Mac. Is this the preferred solution? If I have no internet connection, then I have no familyfile to access. Or does it matter if we have a copy in both places as long as we point the application to the local copy.

Just looking for the best solution.

Yes, there will - all the files that are in your Dropbox folder are local. What Dropbox does is upload the contents of that folder to their servers so that it can be downloaded to your other devices, but the files are still local. You do not need to have a constant internet connection in order to access the contents of the Dropbox folder. You only need an internet connection in order to sync the contents of that folder with the Dropbox "cloud".

Ok.... But there is nothing in my Reunion Files folder anymore now that I moved the files to Dropbox. Just a Sample Family, Charts and Reports. Is that how it should be? Judy

Yes, unless you decide to set the Dropbox folder as the default for everything and dump the Sample Family. (Reunion Preferences/Folders)
