Yes, of course.

Just make a book (even a very small example to work with) and then select the front cover in the list of "Sections."

You can click to select / delete / move graphics on the default cover page. And you can drag / drop images onto the cover page to customize your own. (Or use the + button at the bottom.)

When you've finished, just close the book project and the next time you make a book, your customized cover will appear in the book.

For more details, click a ? button and search for "book cover" (without the quotes).

Now that I have messed it up beyond all recognition how can I set it back to default status?

I'm visually disabled... this part is not very friendly :-(

How can I change the background image?
