    Males only in List Window

I'm creating a database of the McCutch[an, eon, en, in] families so have a long list of any given name, I was trying to search on a Don McCutchan, well I get Dona, Donna, as well as Don and Donald. Is there a way to limit the sex of those displayed in the List Window?

Not that I am aware of. To find only "Don" go to the Find function and do First & Mid Name - is - don. You could then hit the plus sign in Presets to save that find for future use.

Select Find from the left column.
Then for the search conditions enter
Name -> ‘first & mid name’ ‘word starts with’ “don”
      AND
Name -> 'last name' 'field starts with' "mccutch"
      AND
      Attributes -> ‘sex’ ‘is’ “male”

This should give you a list of only the "McCutch..." males where any of his given names starts with “Don”.

Try putting the following text in the search box for the people sidebar...

        [males only] mccutchan, don

That's also a possibility, but it would be easier to choose directly.
Suggestion: a triangle popup menu in the left navigationbar (in the button 'People'), where you can choose directly: All, Males, Females, Unknown sex.

          Perhaps something for the wishlist.

In answer Gregg's suggestion; It doesn't work with me

But the suggestion by Byron does and you can also use it conversley for "females"

A shortcut to avoid typing the "males only" or "females only" filter into the People search is to choose Add Spouse from Sidebar from the Add Person popup for the wife or husband, respectively, on the current card. There is no commitment to add the spouse, just as this popup isn't required when you do want to drag/add a spouse. This action only pastes the appropriate parameter into the People search.

Add Father or Add Mother will do the same except that the Add Father option also enters the surname, which you may not want to search.

Thanks Gregg, works in the regular People list and the List Window as well.
