    Great-aunt or grandaunt

After a little research, I see this has been discussed in the past. I suppose both forms are correct in the US, although to me, logical doesn't necessarily mean correct. In the British Isles, I believe only great-aunt is correct. But kudos to Reunion for letting people use whichever form they prefer. Or does it?

I found that Reunion gives you a choice in the "Change" button of the Relatives sidebar. My choices are between Grandaunt and G Aunt. Close enough, so I left the button unchecked as I prefer Great-aunt. But if I go down a few generations, I find my "grandniece" with no option to change that at all! Surely that preference needs to apply to all levels of that relationship?

Could that be moved to Preferences? Is it something that was fixed in v.11? I haven't decided yet whether I'll upgrade. I know it's only a minor irritant, but I'd like to know.

    Muriel,

I've just checked this out in Version Reunion 11 and I don't think there has been a change from Version 10, i.e. it still uses the the abbreviations: G, GG etc. for previous generations of uncles/aunts, but 'Grand' as in Grand Niece/Nephew is also being used which is not now common terminology in the UK, 'though it may well have been in the 19th century amongst the 'upper classes'.

I don't know how widely such terminology is used internationally, i.e. in English speaking Countries outside the USA, but do I agree that an option to use 'Great' or even just 'G' in place of 'Grand', i.e. G[reat] Niece/Nephew would at least be consistent and therefore preferable.
