    gedcom

I have a small database which uses accents on word such as Montréal. When a person has a nickname, I put it in quotes: "Sammy".

When I export it I have the following problems:
    1. Montréal shows up as Montr√©al, QC
    2. Sam "Sammy" Jones shows up as Sam “Sammy” /Jones/
    3. A date 15 Jan 1850 shows up as 15 JAN 1850

What can I do to correct these problems?

The first two problems are probably as a result of some mis-match between the character encoding of the exported GEDCOM and whatever program you're reading it with. Try character encoding of UTF-8 on the GEDCOM (it's a dropdown menu in the window when you export it) if that's not already set; otherwise you'll have to experiment with other encoding to see which one your other program "wants".

For the date format, go to Reunion -> Preferences, and click "Dates". Make sure "UPPERCASE" isn't checked.
