    Reunion 11 New Book Feature

I am excited about the new Book Feature in Reunion 11. I am interested in the Family History layout....as I would like to include my Notes. My question is....how do you incorporate branches that come into a family line....and are quite developed. You miss the prior generations. Does this mean that you need to do a book for each line? For example you start with Family A. Family A marries Family B 3 generations down the road. But you have information on Family B that goes back 3 generations or more prior to that marriage.
I am interested in how others are handling this issue. Is it necessary to create many books following each line?

I create a book for each line. When I finish I shall attempt to unite them all in a Word document. Haven't got that far yet

Thank you Terry for you suggestion. I hadn't thought about turning it into a Word Document. That way you could move photos around too. They could be integrated into the text.

I was thinking I would take the longest, most complete line and then in the notes of the marriage of the two lines...include the information of the ancestors of the second line. But I like your idea of making a Word Document. The only problem is that we would have repetition of information. This would involve some editing.

Do any other Forum members have other thoughts on this?

To piggyback on an old post, (1) how do you move a book report into Word?
And (2) how do you get all events and notes included? Whatever book reports I have tried only included birth, marriage, death, but not other events like immigration. Thank you.

[1] you don't. Books output as .pdf files.
[2] after selecting the book format (Register, Family History, or Ancestor), you use the "Layout" drop-down menu to select "Define Layouts..." and then you select any additional fields you want to include. You save the new layout and use it to create the book.

I meant say that I am going to input the pdfs to a word file and embellish there.

I haven't done this, but it seems once you create a book, you can import or export a custom section, but I don't think you can do this with sections auto-generated by Reunion.

So I suspect if you want to do any extensive editing on the reports, you will have to generate the reports within Reunion in the usual way, then assemble them into a book using other software. You could also see if adding them as custom sections to a Reunion book would suit your needs.

Re: Reunion 11 New Book Feature

I have just discovered the book feature! It looks great, but I do have questions. The first one is the death dates. If I don't know a death date, I always put 'bef year' or 'aft year', depending on when I last found them. eg. bef 1881, otherwise they would still show as living. This method also gives an indication of timing for further research. In the Register Report, it does include the bef and aft, but then states, 'she was 49' or whatever age she would be if she had died that year. How can I exclude this or work around it?

I managed to figure it out myself. I went into field preferences then I chose a preference without an age at death.
