    FTM to Reunion

Hi, I am a newbie here to Reunion. I have recently downloaded my FTM tree from my computer to my Reunion package and I have no media items actually linked/attached to my Reunion tree. I think it is probably something that I have done wrong from the outset with FTM but if anyone can help it would be appreciated. My Ancestry.co.uk tree has all my media there attached to the individuals - and they are there (I think!) if I go to my FTM tree (but I didnt really use it very much, but think I need, and want, to have an outside base now just in case!) so if any kind soul out there knows what it is likely that I have done - or what I should do now to rectify getting my Ancestry.co.UK tree as it is into Reunion photos, certs, censuses etc. then I would appreciate any feedback.

    Fingers crossed!

I seem to have only gone and fixed it!!! It would seem that I have been using FTM incorrectly for the last 3 years and today and found out what to do.

Onwards and upwards from here I think!! Media all uploaded to Reunion - let's get started!

      Hi,
Perhaps you could let me in on your secret as I am in exactly the same boat, ( just moving from FTM ). Thanks

There is a Facebook Group for 'FTM 2014 Users' that is alive at present with people analysing the pros and cons of transferring their trees and media from FTM to various other genealogical programs. This is the group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/612548515558308/

I've been following the various threads and unfortunately I haven't seen specifics on Reunion, but a lot on Gedcom uploads to other big mainly PC-based genealogical programs. A common theme is that media attached to individuals will all come across if its left in the one FTM Media folder. For Reunion to "find" the media, it simply needs to know where to look. So as posted in another thread in the last day or so, perhaps you need to rebuild thumbnails or repair links? Reunion Preferences -> Multimedia -> and then either Repair Multimedia Links or Rebuild Thumbnails; so tell Reunion where the files are located.

        I hope this helps.

But it looks like media attached to sources doesn't come through at all into Reunion. Media needs to be attached to people, not sources. Is there a way to connect media to sources in Reunion?

Got to thinking: Does Leister have a Facebook page? Went and looked and they do. See it at https://www.facebook.com/ReunionSoftware/timeline.

We do have a Facebook page -- but, it's really just a placeholder, so that people can find us if they happen to search for us there. The Facebook page simply directs people to come here to the ReunionTalk forum, or just send us an email, for help and discussion.
