    Viewing ALL Married Couples

    Hi everyone,
Is it possible to do a search for all Married Couples?
e.g.Like we do for searching for a female person by [,mary] under the headings people.
People, sources, multi media, relatives, ages, places, etc., drop down menu at the top right hand side of the program [Family View]
I would like to be able to view all the couples to make it easier to find certain people, to see if they are connected.
    Thank you, Trish

    Hi Trish,

Please try clicking the "Lists" entry in the Navbar at left, then selecting "Couples". This will give you a list of all of the couples in the family file.

Note that this list doesn't include just married couples, however. It includes any entries that have been linked together as spouses.

      Good Afternoon Mark,
Thank you for your help with Married Couples and couples lists.
I have found where to enable viewing of ALL couples.
Can you tell me if it is possible to VIEW the COUPLES VIA: Husband Surname or Wife Surname Please.
I can view couple however I can’t work out how to view them SURNAME alphabetically. [They seam to show jumbled alphabetically.]
Hoping there is a way to enable Alphabetical lists of couples.
      Thank you once again. Trish

Don't intend to jump in, but in view of all the time differences, thought I'd respond.

        1. The default Couples list is strangely by Family/Husband's First Name. Just click the column headings for the couples to sort the list in either ascending or descending alphabetical order.

        2. To chose an alternative preset, e.g. Last Name, First Name (Husband) or create other/more complex sorting lists, click on the pink 'bar chart' icon at the bottom of the Window. You can create new sort lists with your own selections/preferences.

An additional approach here would be setting up the Couples list so that the first 2 columns are used for the names.

Make a column for "Husband Last, First+Mid" and then another column for "Wife Last, First+Mid."

Use the little blue pop-up buttons at the top right of each column header.

Each column could be clicked to sort the list by that column.

            Thank you mjashby & Frank,
Thank you for your help sorting my couples out, you have helped me a lot.
I have made the columns as you described, which is good I can now see Husbands in one column and wives in another column, as well as a date column I have entered, and a place column. So far so good.
            My only problem is;
I am unable to work out how to view all the HUSBANDS Surnames/ WIFE Surnames in Alphabetical ORDER.
The surnames seam to show up in any order not alphabeticlal.
I have attached a small section screen shot of what I am trying to explain.
Is their some way to make them show alphabetically please?

Have you tried clicking the Header of the column you want to sort? That should sort the column entries in ascending/descending alpha order each time you click on it.

I suspect the default (random) listing is probably because the Reunion database auto-lists the relationships in the sequence they were created in rather than in alphabetical order, which is strange default behaviour for user viewing. If you click on the Pink icon again and select 'Manual Sort...' you can change the sorting method to the one you prefer, e.g. Choose 'Primary' > 'Name' and make your choice from the list of options.

                Hi Mervyn,
Thanks again for you reply, wow I must be slow, it has taken me hours to find the extra little icon to click to the change the list to read alphabetically.
I was clicking on the blue arrows ↕︎ up/down with no success.
Thankfully with your help, I have now found the little black icon ^ inside next to the blue up and down arrows ↕︎ and am able to get the couples surnames alphabetically arranged either ascending or descending.
Fantastic, thanks once again it is a wonderful help to be able to use this section of reunion.
                All the best Trish

                  Hi Trish,

I attach a copy of the list of marriages showing how I have made it in my Reunion.
Only the first few are listed but it gives an example of my set-up.

Where in SA are you located? Perhaps we can talk by phone if you feel it would help.

Just FYI, there is no need to click exactly on the ^ icon to get the column to sort, you can click anywhere in the header (except on the up/down arrows) to perform the sort.

                      Hope this helps.
