I've been investigating wikitree and ancestry.com, and both encourage uploads of a GEDCOM file. I'm interested in going forward but I don't want to include living members of the family. Is there a way (I'm betting there is) to exclude living members other than myself?

When the "Results" appear use the Mark menu button at the bottom of the sidebar to "Unmark Everybody in Family File, then Mark Everybody in List."
Next, you would mark yourself since you are okay with being included in the GEDCOM file.
(Note: if there are any living spouses of marked people do not want to be included in the GEDCOM file, you will need to "unlink" them temporarily until after exporting the GEDCOM file.)
Also, before exporting the GEDCOM file, you may need to manually mark "non-living" people who may have been missed by Reunion because of not having any birth or death dates entered.
Finally, choose File -> Export -> GEDCOM and select the option to export "Marked people and their spouses."
I hope you find this information helpfulDeb Stuller
