    living age setting

    Hi-
I am running Reunion 11.0.8 and have found behavior I cannot explain. I run the report called Statistics, set to display Year of birth for all people who are living. The earliest birth year displayed is 1936. You can see a screenshot of the Statistics report here: http://imgur.com/hC1mrjT. It excludes a relative, listed in the people bar, born in 1930.

Here is a screenshot of the privacy settings. http://imgur.com/OxKfXnY

Am I doing something wrong? If not, is there a workaround?

    Thanks
    Quentin

While I assume that you have checked that "1930 record", I would go one step further. Sometimes, in databases and genealogy programs, a space appears to be empty but is not. Get your cursor into the death date field. Does it seem to not be all the way to the left? If yes, hit delete key as needed. (There could be a space or a hidden symbol.)

      Hi Quentin,

      Please go to:

Reunion -> Preferences... , Dates, Feasibility Checking

And see what age is set under "Living age". Most likely this person isn't considered living because their birth year makes them older than the "Living age" that is set there.

        Mark,
That was exactly my mistake. I had it set for 'Age greater than 80 considered not living.' Life is good now, and I'm no longer at risk of overlooking my mother-in-law, who is doing fine at 85.

        Thanks for your help

Learn something new everyday... I wouldn't have thought that the feasibility check would prevent the finding of a date.

So, I find it curious that this was built into the Reunion software. It also makes me wonder if there are any other situations in Reunion's find functions that do not return all of the requested data (like in Quentin's situation). Hm-m-m-m!

I'm not being critical as I'm sure there are reasons for programming this way. I am interested in being aware of situations like this -- if there are more.

Feasibility is not preventing a DATE from being found. In this case, the Statistics report was limited to people who are living -- feasibility is used to decide at what age people with no birthdate are considered not living.

It's doubtful that you would want people born in 1850 to appear in a report of living people, the line needs to be drawn somewhere and you can place that line at an age that best suits your needs in the Date Feasibility window.

The only time Reunion will take Date Feasibility into consideration is if you're asking Reunion to determine if a person is living and that person has no death information.
