People show up in lists even though unmarked

Someone had this issue in 2012 with no resolution, so I thought I'd post a new thread.
I am trying to make a gedcom of my relatives to import into a web site.
My Reunion family file includes both my husband's and my own families.
I unmark everybody in my family file, then go to Mark, and ask to mark all my relatives (not just blood) and their spouses. I have Unmark Everybody First checked as well.
The sidebar changes to "Relatives" and all my relatives show up. I save the set and make a gedcom from it. Lo and behold, all my husband's relatives are in the gedcom as well.
If I go back to the sidebar, the number of people at the bottom is 1272. The names of my husband's relatives do not show up in the list of my own relatives. But if I option-click any box in the list to unmark everyone in the list, they all get unmarked, but the number of marked people at the bottom still says 391!
It is as if my husband's relatives are permanently marked somehow. I wouldn't mind just him showing up, as he is my spouse and I have spouses marked, but not his entire family!
I have tried several ways to solve this and just cannot do it.
    Help!

My first thought would be to verify that "Marked people (391) and their spouses" is selected after choosing File -> Export -> GEDCOM.

Based on your note, it sounds like "All people" are currently being exported in the GEDCOM file.

I hope this information is helpful for you

      Thank you, Deb.
Actually, that's not everybody. I have about 2500 people total.
I think I solved it by using "Unmark everybody in file, then mark everybody in list." Which is in a drop-down menu at the bottom of the sidebar. This gives me 886 people, which is about right.
What I find odd is that you cannot do that in 2 steps. I had unmarked everyone, to where "Marked people" said: 0, and then did a search for my own relatives. The old marked people (my husband's relatives, who I think were my previous search) did not show up in that, they only did when I made a gedcom from the set.
The reason I was a bit annoyed is because I had just spent time manually unmarking all my contemporaries, their children and even their parents out of the results. This list is going to a public website, and people are increasingly touchy about this kind of thing, even if living and recently deceased people are "masked." I'd rather they weren't there at all, and I don't want to alienate any cousins.
Anyway, I'm hoping this is the solution. I'm off to manually unmark my cousins again, and let's see. If it doesn't work, I'll be back.
