    Fan chart

Since a couple of OS versions (I'm on latest 10.11), it's impossible to create fan charts with more than 6 or 7 generations.
I'm getting these kind of errors :

    Hi Airy,

I just tried making a fan chart for myself with 10 generations - guess what - it failed and crashed.

Have sent a console report to Reunion.

        Re: Fan chart

        It's not crashing for me.
Just no chart window is displayed, and some messages are logged to the console.
And when quitting, the chart windows are shown asking to save. They are empty

It's a 100% repro for me if I pick a > 7 generations fan chart (on a individual having that many ancestors) on 10.11.

          Re: Fan chart

No issues for me generating fan charts of 7, 8, 9 and 10 generations with long ancestral lines. I get no Reunion generated console messages and a good fan chart is consistently created and displayed. I am running MacOS 10.11.3 and Reunion 11.0.8.
There must be something else at play here. If this is failing for you then send Frank the console and dump info as he outlined above.

            Re: Fan chart

Strange, on my MacBook Pro with R11.0.08 and El Capitan I can create a 10 gen. fanchart without problems, with 520 cells with data (parts in the 10 gen. are empty).
I use the standard settings in FanChart are: gen.10, helvetica, line hair, gradient, fontsize 9
Might be you have other settings.

              Re: Fan chart

              Well I have followed all the steps outlined in "Franks support FAQ" and can now do a fan chart upto 8 generations - but for 9 & 10 - all I get is a blank chart before closing.See screenshot attached;

Have prepared a console report and is on the way to Leister folk.

This is on a new iMac (only 7 weeks old) running 10.11.3

                Hi Alan and Airy,

In addition to any logs you've already sent, I'd also recommend sending your family file to us with details on the source person for the chart so that we can try to duplicate the issue. That should help us in determining the cause of the problem.

                Thanks,

                          Re: Fan chart

I have exactly the same problem since I used Reunion 11 or Reunion 9 with my iMac (Retina, late 2014, 4 GHz i7, RAM 24 Go, Amanda Radeon R9 M295X 4096 Mo) and OS 10.11.4

I tought my file may be corrupted, so I created a new database with limited data (only the first name). The problem is still there.

But every thing goes well on my old PowerBook Pro (mid 2009).
I went to Apple's Genius Bar, and they blamed the application.

Personnaly, I opt for a defective iMac. Then, I suggest to send my new limited database to Leister, to perform a try on their equipment.
