People sidebar & the Sidebar

I'm attempting to get as much space on my 27" iMac and what I would want is to be able to have the People sidebar collapsed, then when I click on the People item in the side bar and the People sidebar appears on the right, moving the main window to the left, now when I click on the People item again the People side bar collapses, but leaves the main window to the left most position, I would like the main window to return to it's original position. Is this a possibility?

If you hold the option key down when clicking on the arrows in the upper right part of the main pane, it will expand to the right over the side bar instead of having the sidebar contract to the left.

You'll see that the arrows change direction when you press the option key.

Lots of thanks for that one. I've been achieving this trick the slow way on my MBP for years and wondered if there was a better way. Now I know. Great.
