Adding Families

I've begun to update our genealogy by including three new families by marriage. I've been able to collect about 75-125 names for each of the new families. I have 1500+ in our current database. Question - Is it best to:

1) Continue adding all the new family members to the main database or;

2) start a new database for each family, add all their info, then merge into main database?

1. The answer is 1.

There are no significant advantages to 2.

I would say it depends!

It depends on the accuracy of the new information that you're adding to the existing master file. If you're absolutely sure of how the new family members connect to your existing family, then, go right ahead and add them.

However, if you're not 100% sure, I'd keep a separate file for each batch, because it can be quite difficult to un-link families once they're connected.
