Adding a marriage status

Is there a way to add a new entry to the marriage status fields. I would like to add "Widowed" as a status. However there is no "Add" button on that screen in Preferences.

There isn't any way to do that. You can ask to have new statuses added in new versions of Reunion on the wish list board.

But in this case I don't think that would be helpful. The marriage status is the status of the marriage, not the people in the marriage. If someone dies, their spouse's marital status is widow, but their status is dead. But the marriage is neither dead nor widowed. If there were going to be an entry in the marital status menu to reflect that, it would be "terminated by death".

If it's important to you to record, you could make it a person flag: Widowed, or something similar, and check those to whom it applies.
