Adding Godparents?

I'm just wondering how others handle godparents. I am looking at some Italian marriage records and see that baptismal records are included. These list the godparents, and because of the similarity in names, I suspect they may also be related. Obviously I can't link them to the child without a known relationship, but I'm wondering what the best way to record the information is. I'm thinking that maybe adding the names to the memo field for 'baptism' is a start. I'm also considering adding each as 'Unrelated Person' so that I have them in there if I later come across the name again in my research. What do others do?
