    Attaching legible charts

Apologies if this has been covered many times before.
I am trying to send a large Descendants Chart as an email attachment to someone who has a Mac but not Reunion. I'd like them to be able to move around the chart and zoom in where required , but for entries to remain fully visible. I've tried as a multi page pdf, a graphic file and a screen shot, but although the recipient and I can see the attachment, when we zoom in to read any detail, it's far too fuzzy to read or understand.
The chart shows eleven generations in a left to right arrangement.
Perhaps it is just too large for this ?
I haven't been using Reunion for a while, so I'm a little out of touch.
I'd also like to be send this attachment to cousins on a private Facebook Group, many of whom will then want to me to add their branches.
Any help much appreciated, please ?

When you save as a graphic file (PDF), can you open and zoom into the chart details successfully in Preview before you email it?

Ok, that seems to rule out Reunion as a problem.

What are the dimensions of the chart? (File>Get Info). Sometimes Windows users have trouble with larger charts, as you've already suggested.

            Re: Attaching legible charts

This is a little odd--the chart is definitely a manageable size.

This shouldn't matter with a PDF, but I'd try this:

            - Create and save the PDF file by selecting File>Save Graphic File from the Reunion chart editor, choosing the PDF format option in the Save window (you've already done this).

            - If you're using Apple Mail as your mail client, attach the PDF to your message and make sure Full Size is selected as an option for your attachment if this choice is available (it shouldn't be for a PDF file).

            - Have the recipient save the attachment to the Desktop or Documents folder, and open it from there rather than directly from the email message.

It seems as if somewhere along the way, the attachment is being modified during the mailing process. You might try as a last resort to zip the file before mailing to provide a sort of protective wrapper over the PDF file (from the desktop, highlight the file and then choose File>Compress "Your Chartfile.PDF").

Hmmm, tried some of those suggestions thank you , but its still not right.
I can attach the chart as a pdf but can't see where to check the full size option.
I can now attach a legible version but I'm losing the bottom half of the chart !

I see at the bottom left of my screen a 2/24 note ; and above that there's a note saying , nothing selected. Should I be selecting the whole chart before attaching it ?

                  Re: Attaching legible charts

Tried, "Select- Object- all Boxes" , and that now gives me a legible result, when i email the attached chart to myself as a test, but I'm still losing the bottom half of the the chart.
Have I perhaps got some other basic setting wrong, like setting of the printable area ?

                    Re: Attaching legible charts

It sounds as if you may be trying to copy/paste or drag/drop your file to your message to attach it. If so, please try the following instead. If not, I guess I'm not sure what else to try.

                    - create a new message in your mail application

                    - click on the paper clip icon or otherwise open a window to find and select a file to attach

                    - in that window, navigate to your PDF file, highlight it, and click the OK/Choose button

                      Re: Attaching legible charts

Tim , thanks for your help, but I attach the chart as normal, i.e., Ccick the paperclip icon when in email mode, using standard Apple mail, then scroll to Family History and the particular saved file.
No copy and paste and no click and drag.
Not sure what else I can try but perhaps I could send a screen shot of the whole chart to ReunionTalk, and maybe email you, with the attachment. At least that way you could see what I'm trying to do, and what I'm actually managing to do so far !

                      Any other suggestions.
I guess many of you must send large charts to others as email attachments regularly?

                        Re: Attaching legible charts

An update, i can now save a legible attachment but I'm only seeing the top half of the attached Chart.
I've tried select- objects- All boxes, but this makes no difference. Tried changing the paper sizes to A3 in the print set yup but no change, other than to reduce the number of page break lines.
Its as if I have some global setting activated which prevents the whole chart from being saved.

If you'd like to send me the Reunion file for your chart, I'd be happy to take a look at it.

Please email it to charts (at) familygraphics (period) com.

The sizing option is not available for PDF's. Your attachment has to be a graphic format (jpg, png, tiff, etc...) to see the sizing option.

                              Re: Attaching legible charts

Thanks Bob and particularly Tim. Note to all ; we exchanged emails and have concluded that the problem was a glitch in Reunion 9 which I was using. i've needed a decent reason to upgrade for a while, so now I'm getting to grips with Reunion 11. And I can produce legible, scaleable, descendant charts once again:-)
Maybe this isn't the place for these follow up queries, but does the Reunion 11 family view have to be awash with pink and blue so much? Can i change that ? My old R9 family view looked quiet and professional, the 11 one looks like a washed out set of sweets.
Is there a "back" button ?
The tree view feature is great but I keep wanting to go back a screen.
And can I change the male and female silhouette figures for each person ? This is fine for the 21st century but a jacket and tie look silly on a fifteenth century ancestor.
