I think what I'm going to ask about is not possible without creating a new family file, but here goes:
When making a Pedigree chart, many boxes are very wide because of the inclusion of long place names that may include town, township, county, state, and "United States" or something like "Ireland (now Northern Ireland)." In the case of "United States," I don't really need that on the chart, and for the Ireland example, I have to go into each box by hand to make it break to a second line. My goal is to make the chart more compact and on fewer sheets of paper from side-to-side.
I have not found a way to specify the default width of boxes such that it would force a line break, and suspect that is not possible. I have also not found a way to do a "Search and Replace" on all boxes to remove, for example, "United States," and I suspect that is also not possible.
For now, I'm thinking that the only (partial) solution is to export the desired marked people to a separate Reunion family file, then change the Place names for the places associated with these people to remove "United States" and otherwise shorten Places as desired. But then, I would then still have to go in to do forced line breaks on the Ireland example, so it's hard to say if this separate-file solution would save any time. But it is extremely tedious and time-consuming to futz with the boxes for the sole purpose of keeping the chart from being four sheets of paper wide, for no other reason than certain place names are very long.
For what it's worth, sometimes I have staggered the boxes of people in certain color-matched generations (for a brick-wall-like effect in two rows) to save width, but on the tree I've been working on recently, that's not an option.
Thanks for any ideas anyone may have. Maybe these are just some Wish List dreams.
