    Count Titles of Relatives

    Hi:
I have over 43K persons in my family database.

Does anyone know of a way to obtain a report of how many relatives there are of each kind, that is, how many 9th Great-Grandfathers, how many 5th cousins, etc. ?

I can count the first few generations, but by the time I get to 9h great-grandfathers, well.......

    Thanks.

I don't know if this is the only way or not - but here's what I did just the other day when I wanted a count of 2nd, 3rd and 4th cousins..

Do the Relationships thing to get them calculated

Then go to the Find panel, and choose the Attribute for "Relationship Is" and then type in the Relationship you're looking for.

Then once you get that list, you can "Unmark Everybody in Family File and Mark Everybody in List". The number of Marked People will be the number of that relationship that you have.

Another approach is to use the Relatives sidebar.

      First, unmark everybody.

Then if you click at the left edge of the Relatives list (in the Mark column) next to the title "5th Cousin" for example, all the 5th cousins will be marked, and at the bottom you'll see "14 marked" (assuming there are 14 5th cousins).

Click exactly the same spot and those 5th cousins will be unmarked. It'll say "0 marked."

Do the same thing for other relationships.

Admittedly, a one-at-a-time approach. But better than counting.

Ahhh - it was the clicking just left of the relationship title that I was missing - thanks for that!

Much easier than typing out the relationship names to search for them.

When using ReunionTouch the number of relatives is mentioned in the subheading in the Relatives sidebar.
Might be a suggestion for next version of Reunion on the Wishlist.
