chart sizing

I was making a descendant chart using the print function to make a pdf. The chart "get info" information is apparently in inches. But to change the print size under page setup, when trying to "manage custom sizes" using the paper size menu - it comes up in millimeters and does not allow me to change it to inches. any idea what is going on?

This is a system preference set by the Mac OS rather than by a program.
Go to System Preferences --> Language & Region --> Click "Advanced" --> Change "Measurement units:" from Metric to US.

This may be in a similar but not identical place depending on which version of the OS you're using (instructions above are for Sierra). But you're looking for a similar sounding preference panel.
