"unofficial" sources

I am fortunate that my mother and aunt had done much work about 30 years ago. I have extensive paper records, some seems to be "family knowledge" (e.g. mom talking to my great aunt). Is there an established way to note that source (understanding that it could be subject to error, but it is still a source until I find something more concrete)? I think the same can be said about information from photos of headstones...?

I have sourced my "pre-Software" and older information - that was gleaned before I understood sourcing - as interviews (when it was notes on a conversation I had with a relative) or for the import of my original gedcom - again started before I understood the concept of sources - I have a GEDCOM source.

It's not perfect, however, when I started using Reunion I'd just moved from a PC and using Family Tree Maker - I migrated my tree from FTM from Windows into FTM for MAC and corrupted it - a number of attempts, much loss of data - though I think I did retrieve pretty much everything over a couple of years...

This works for me - as well as recording any interviews, e-mail and letters as such - noting the information in them for further scrutiny.

As the farmer says when asked for directions - I wouldn't start for here to get there...
