How To Remove Parent

Hi,

I have a person with an illegitimate child. The child is in the system with no father specified.

I then added a spouse to the mother, as she later married.

Reunion has added the spouse as the father of the illegitimate child. This should not have happened.

How can I detach the father from this child?

I don't know but I think the only way is to change the child status to illegitimate. This way you get a blue banner around the child box.
There is a relationship between the man and the child, that is the mother.

In Reunion 9 the mother would have multiple relationships:

one with no spouse, but a child
one with a spouse, but no child

Reunion 10 appears to be treating these differently.

I created just the following:

Created the following persons
- female
- male without child
- male with child
- Child

I added the child to female and One male with child.
As in Reunion 9, I see clicking on the female box - arrow - Spouses and Children

I just checked on version 9.0 and I see the same behaviour. I obviously didn't notice that before.

Adding a spouse to a woman with illegitimate children adds the new spouse as the parent of the children in both version 9.0 and 10.0.1.

I'm happy I know how to work around this, but I think it is incorrect behaviour.

Darren - I may be misunderstanding but... if you have a mother with an illegitimate child - you still have to "activate" the spouse box and leave it blank. Some people type "Unknown" into this spouse box -other's say "if it's blank - it's blank." Either way, the child did have a father so the box should be activated. In any case. Once you have an unknown or unnamed spouse attached to the mother with the child, Then when you add another partner Reunion will open a new spouse box without the mother's first child.
