Suggestion needed for Spanish naming practices

Spanish and majority of latin american families use "two" surname: the first one heritage from our father's "first last name"; and the second from our mother's "first last name".
So, if someone is named in Spain JOHN KENNEDY BOUVIER, everybody knows that his father's surname is KENNEDY, and his mother's is BOUVIER.
Any suggestion on how to use that naming practice with Reunion 10?
Can I write both surnames as a composed last name, aka.: VAN HALEN?
Or better use the second surname as a suffix? The later solution is giving me trouble with some reports and charts.
    Thanks in advance
    Best,

    Jose A. Paulson

I've always just used the "Last name" field for the last name. You have to fill it in, since Reunion won't automatically assume Spanish practice applies, but that's the only difference.

So the 16th Duque de Alba de Tormes is:
    First name: Carlos
Last name: Fitzjames-Stuart y de Sales Palafox
    Prefix title: Don

(His father being: Don Jacobo Luis Fitzjames-Stuart y de Ventimiglia

I see several other responders in English and Spanish recommending placing the patronym and matronym both in the last name field. This is the practice I have always used for Spanish family names (depending on actual family usage of the matronym), with no problems, and that I also recommend. I use the same approach with other compound surnames, as in Dutch, French or German. The suffix field is better suited to post nominal titles, not surnames.
