    Upgrading systems to reunion 10

I am presenting a project that I am about to undertake to upgrade my Reunion program and am seeking any suggestions before I start. I have just acquired a new iPad and want to add Reunion to it also.
The sequence of events I have listed below are my thoughts of how to
    go about it methodically.

#1 Download V.10 to iMac - this will update all of present Reunion files (V9.0c) as is

#2 Sync new V.10 iMac files to new iPad making those files current on both Reunion
    programs

#3 Download V.10 to iPad - enter new data into now current iPad files and sync to iMac.

It is my understanding that you can only sync FROM your mobile device (iPad) to your desktop (iMac) and therefore all new entries should be made on the iPad. I presently have research data waiting to be entered into the records. I think this essentially would make my iMac a

For the most part your procedure looks OK, however, a few notes:

You don't download Reunion 10 to the iPad, instead, you would need to purchase Reunion for iPad from the App Store (assuming you haven't already).

This is not the case. While it's true that the sync is, in a sense, a one-way sync, you can make changes on both devices. In order to load changes you make on your iMac to the iPad you simply re-upload the Family File to the iPad (using File -> Mobile Device -> Put Family File on Device...); though you'll want to make sure to sync changes you've made on the iPad back to Reunion on your Mac first.

    Hope that helps

      Geraldine,
Mark gave you the correct information about syncing. I just want to add that you should try to avoid entering new data on the iPad if you have that choice. There are many new helps in Reunion 10 for places and names that make data entry much easier in the full program than on the iPad.

I use my iPad on research trips and enter new data, but don't try to enter precise locations, especially if I have it on the original because it is tedious to have to write a lengthy name repeatedly on the iPad - and more prone to error. On your Mac it will pop up matching entries from your previous place lists - less typing - more accuracy and consistency. When you get home and sync you can use place sidebar to "correct" your short entries to the full citation.
