    Flag order in Family View

I use lots of flags and display them in Family View. In Flag Preferences they are listed in alphabetical order (this appears to be the default and it looks like there's no way to override it).

I've "customized" the alphabetical order so the flags appear in order of priority (using symbols, spaces etc.), yet the order in which the names of checked flags appears in Family View is not the same as it appears in Flag Preferences. I don't know what determines the order in Family View, possibly it's the order in which I checked them.

Because of limited display space in family view I would like the names of checked flags to appear in the same order they appear in Flag Preferences.

Any insight or advice would be appreciated.

Based on my experiences with flags in Reunion 10, flags on the family view are in the same order as they are in both the Flag Preferences window and in the Edit Family/Flags panel.

Since you are not seeing that, my first suggestion would be for you to verify that you are running our latest version of Reunion 10, version 10.0.3. (This can be verified by opening your family file and choosing Reunion -> About Reunion.)

If you are not running version 10.0.3, I recommend you download it from this web page...

Be sure to quit Reunion 10 prior to installing the update.

If you continue to see the same behavior in 10.0.3, I recommend that you send your family file to us. It can be sent to...

(Be sure to include a note reminding me of the problem. Also, do not make any changes to the file until you hear back from me.)

    Thanks:-)

Thanks for the response Deb. The flag order is indeed the same in the Flag Preferences window and in the Edit Family/Flags panel. That's not the problem.

It's the order that the checked flags are displayed in Family View I need help with. If that order were the same as it appears in Flag Preferences and in the Edit Family/Flags panel it would be a big help.

For space reasons I can allocate only one line to the flags display in Family View. As my flags appear by order of priority in the other two places I would like the same to happen here, so that my most important flags are at the front of the line.

That isn't happening. On the panel and in preferences the flags appear, for example, as Adams, Brown, Smith, Thompson, in that order. Adams and Thompson are checked but they appear as Thompson, Adams on the flags line in Family View. This, of course, is only an example. I have 50 flags and as many as 15 might be checked.

Here's hoping this explanation is a little clearer and you can give me a hand with this.

      Many thanks.

Yes, I understand. Perhaps the way I said it was a bit confusing. However, in my family file, the order is the same in all three places.

Since you are not seeing this same thing in your family file, I recommend that you check to see if your version of Reunion 10 is our latest version, 10.0.3. (I.e., choose Reunion -> About Reunion.)

If you are already running 10.0.3 (or if you continue to see the same thing after updating to 10.0.3), I recommend that you send your family file to me.

See my last post for the Reunion 10.0.3 download link and my email address.

        Thanks:-)

Have you tried numbering the flags in the order you wish them to appear? That's what I did so that I could get the ones I wanted in Family View.

Thanks for the tip. I've used spaces and symbols rather than numbers because I'm constantly adding and deleting flags. I sometimes have as many as 50; sometimes as few as 15. Even though the order is what I want it to be in Preferences and the Edit Panel it just doesn't always come up that way in Family View. I'll be interested to see what Deb thinks after she's had a chance to look at my file.
