    Clearing User ID Numbers

Is there a way of clearing all of the optional User ID Numbers without having to go through them all individually?

    Try this...

    1. Open the Field Preferences window to the Person fields section.

    2. Create a new fact called something like "User ID Fact"

    3. Go to the Move section and move "User ID" to "User ID Fact"

    4. Go back to the Person fields section and delete the "User ID Fact"

Skip step #4 if you just wanted to move the contents of the User ID field into a different field, but don't actually want to lose the user ID information.

Note: Make a backup copy of your family file before doing the above steps.

What makes you say that the User ID is optional? The User ID is a unique ID, it is the "key" or PK (Primary Key) in a relational database.

Why on earth do you want to mess with the User ID???

I think you're confusing User ID with Person ID. The User ID field is indeed optional and is empty by default. Here's what the manual has to say about User ID:

"To record your own ID numbers for people, you should use the User ID field that appears in the Name section of the Edit Person panel (click a person's name or choose Edit -> Person). Use of this field is optional."

I think Brad has answered this one.

Thanks Gregg for your help, spot on as usual.
