    "Find" question

I have created a 1940 Event which includes, among other things, the date of the census. The date is listed, for example, as "01/01/1940." I am looking for people who died after 1940 that I have yet to find on the census.

I did a "find" with the following criteria: death date after 1940, AND census date does not contain 1940.

It doesn't do what I think it should. It finds people that have entries for the 1940 Census.

Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong, or why my assumptions are incorrect in conducting the "find"?

    Warren,

This one is tricky because any census event that does not contain 1940 will produce a match.

    Try this instead...

Using Find, mark everyone with a census that contains 1940.

Then, use the find condition death date after 1940, AND person not marked.

Thanks for the reply Gregg, but I can't figure out what you want me to do.

How do I mark people in the Find window?

Click on "Find" in the navbar on the left side of Reunion's main window.

Do the search for Events -> Census Date contains 1940.

Results of the search will appear in the sidebar on the right.

There is a green checkmark icon at the bottom of the sidebar; click on that icon and select...
"Unmark Everybody in Family File, then Mark Everyone in List."

By Jove, I think I've got it!

          Thanks, Gregg.

Incidentally, the more I work with Reunion, the more I am amazed. Please pass on my sincere appreciation to all there.
