Importing Gedcom from Roots Magic 5

I'm trying to import a gedcom from Rootsmagic 5, but Reunion 10 isn't recognizing it. The file suffix is .rmgc. It is grayed out and won't open as a new family file. I'm using OS Mountain Lion and it's working great, but I was wondering if that might have something to do with it.

I'd appreciate any information or suggestions you may have.

    Thanks, Randy.

    Randy,

Doesn't sound like the file is really a GEDCOM file. If it was, it would probably have a .ged suffix. With a .rmgc suffix, I'm betting that file is your Rootsmagic database file. You have to export a GED to a .ged file using Rootsmagic, then import the .ged file into Reunion using FILE->IMPORT.

The problem, if this is truly a GEDCOM file, is that the extension (what you call the suffix) is not correct. Simply change it to .ged and Reunion should recognize it.

        Thanks Don and Rich,

It did turn out that the .rmgc file was a Rootsmagic data file. My wife hit a wrong button creating it on her PC. I've since received the gedcom, which is a .ged file, and it works perfectly.

        Thanks again,

        Randy
