    Colours in charts

When I create charts with Reunion 10, I get nice vivid colours. After I save the chart as a PDF (Save graphic file), the colour palette changes, becoming darker and less saturated. If I print the chart and use the "save as PDF" option of Mac printing, the same happens, so the problem may be on Adobe's side, but I couldn't find a way to solve it. I prefer the original boxchart colour, and I am sorry to lose the palette when converting to PDF. Examples attached.

    Any workaround available?

I wonder if this is a result of being converted from the RGB colorspace (for viewing on a monitor) to the CMYK colorspace (for printing), and also wonder if it's a result of a change in the color management preferences in your Adobe Acrobat.

I don't note such a change on my computer, but my color management settings may be different from yours.

I have encountered this problem as well and gave up trying to solve it years ago, although I do agree with Dennis' intuition that it's a color management issue between the Apple graphics engine and the Adobe model... perhaps how the gamut is/is not specified within the file itself. I'd be very pleased if anyone would be able to provide additional insight.

I believe that Dennis Cunniff is right: the change in colour is similar to that you experience when moving from RGB to CMYK in Illustrator.

Is this also possibly to do with print media?

Colours on a Mac screen usually look juicier and brighter than when they appear on a sheet of regular print paper. The paper is absorbent and this may change the appearance from that on the screen.

This certainly happens in the world of CAD. In my office where we run CAD, each computer has a printed colour chart so that we know how a colour on screen will appear on paper. There are some surprising differences.

I run this with my iMac and Reunion, ie print a grid of all the colours I regularly use and number them so that I know how an on screen colour appears on paper.

'Fraid I don't know why it does this but suppose I've just got used to the difference.
