moving family and descendents to new ancestor

I've found i've entered John and Mary, their children and grandchildren, under the wrong ancestor. I know I can drag John to the clipboard and move him to his real father, but, is there any way to move John and Mary and their descendents all together? I don't see how to do this except by dragging them all to the clipboard as individuals and then dragging them back under the correct parents and spouses. I did drag John and Mary as a test, but it left their children with no parents (but with a marriage date still showing).

If you drag John to the clipboard when he's showing as a child on the family card, and drag him off the clipboard into the child area in his "new" family, Mary and the children will go with him.

It sounds like you're dragging John when he's showing as a parent, which removes him from the family as Mary's husband, which is not what you want to do. You want to remove him as a child in his old family, and add him as a child in the new family.
