    Using Dropbox

Is there a way another family member and I could work together on the Reunion Family file using Dropbox? Or is there another FTP that works with Reunion?

I use Reunion 10 with Dropbox but only by myself. If two open it at the same time I understand the file will be messed up. Maybe if you set up alternate days or something like that it might work.

There are a number of ways to enable joint working but it entirely means by what you mean by

[QUOTE=Allsop;37092] Do you mean that you have the same Reunion file on two computers or you have it on one computer and you both want to work on it from different computers? If the latter it is, for example, possible to set up a network with something like the app

Where is his computer in relation to yours and is it a Mac?

In another Sate. Yes, another Mac - or not, depending on who I contact. Mac to MAc is my preference.

Have a look at TeamViewer to connect both computers, they will of course both have to be on. May not be the ideal but it will do the job.

To piggyback on Andrew's answers, the only application that can make changes to the file is Reunion, so you'll have to go with his suggestion to allow remote access to your computer for the other person to work on your file.

Apple iChat/Messages has a screen sharing capability that works extremely well too, but whenever you allow remote access to your computer with any application, you need to trust the other person completely as they can do anything they want to your computer as if they were sitting in front of it. Perhaps setting up a guest account specifically and exclusively for working on Reunion might be in order for this.

I have been thinking about this and have come to the conclusion that the risks outweigh any benefits, at least they would for me. As Tim said there is a massive issue of trust and not only around the fact of allowing an outside person to access to your computer files

And it offers full control of access to Ada. With TeamViewer, the receiving device creates a one time numeric code that the receiving person has to supply to the inbound person. Of course, that means that the other party can't access unless Ada is at the Mac to supply the numbers. (Note: For automatic answering by TeamViewer, one has to purchase the Pro version for $700+.) (Tidbit: If you wonder how good TeamViewer is, it is the product that Apple's phone people use to access customer Macs to assist them.)

Thank you all for weighing in on this topic. Plenty to consider, for sure.

Sometimes I feel the need of having a Family View open while editing something about an individual in the same family file. I was told that for technical reasons, Reunion does not allow that (it's a pity), but is there a way to achieve a similar result? A read only software?

A workaround might be to take a screenshot of the family view (⌘-Shift-4 then click and drag across the part you want to capture) and then open it in Preview. You can find the screen shot file on your desktop and once in Preview you can scale it to better fit your working arrangement while in the edit view in Reunion.

Another workaround is to have the family file open on your iPhone or iPad while you work on your laptop.
