    Using multimedia with R10

    Hi,
I started using Reunion last year and I am VERY happy with it. I now wish to add some pics. I've read the manual on adding multimedia and I understand the storing of a thumbnail inside the family file with a pointer to the actual file. I store all my family history pics inside folders named after the relevant person, in groups of families etc, not in iPhoto.
Before I commence adding pics willy nilly I'd like to know the pro's and cons and some ideas on how others do it. Am I best to leave the pics where they are or am I best to make a copy and put it in the Reunion Pictures folder and link from there? Am I right in assuming that if I change anything about the family folder filing system on my computer I'll need to relink them all?
I'm known to do a bit of a reorder now and then and want to save myself some hassles if it's easier to put them in a designated folder for Reunion pics. I've got plenty of space on my disk so a few duplicates isn't a prob.
    Any input is appreciated.

If I were you, I'd leave then where they are. My Reunion Pictures folder has had nothing in it but the sample pictures from the start, because, like you, I have other places for my photos. Reunion was always pretty good at finding images one had moved, and in the recent versions, taking advantage of changes in MacOS, it doesn't even have to repair the links.

I concur 100% with what Michael Talibard said. I've long kept my Reunion family files and all related information somewhere inside one larger folder. That larger folder was then always available to back up or restore should the need arise, or to move to a new Mac when the time came, with virtually no impact on what's inside my Reunion family files.

This is not true, as the other responders have indicated.

Once you've linked the multimedia files in Reunion 10, it's OK to move, rename, reorganize, nest, etc. the multimedia files.

Thanks guys, I'll link pics from where they are and let Reunion do it's thing. R10 is really very, very clever. I'm surprised constantly.
