Custom Tags & sharing of experience

As readers may be gathering, I'm (a) in the throes of a Reunion purchase decision & (b) a newbie to GEDCOM, having coming from an old but robust genealogy programme that is completely event-based (pretty much everything as an event) and so intrinsically supports internally many "custom" events, but, sadly, does not export them with custom "tags".

So, having read some threads on custom tags such as:

I am now resolved to having to define many custom tags in Reunion to cover my needs, and so am wondering if there is any freely available list of the sorts of _tags that people have found most useful. Basically, to give me a leg up...

Another post had a link to the GEDCOM 5.5.1 Draft Standard and that contains a list of allowable Tags.

Any event you want to define that isn't part of that list you should use a Custom Tag and that must start with an underscore

Which I did, and also looked at the GEDCOM 5.5 and 5.5.1 standards. Without desiring to reopen this debate, let me ask this question. Since Reunion uses several non-standard GEDCOM tags, does it export them as non-standard: i.e., preceded with an underscore?

Otherwise, GEDCOM is not a standard at all, but a free-for-all.

        Yes, that is the case.

I don't have the date it was last revised, but, it was (computer wise) a long time ago.

If you are sharing more than names, dates and relationships, gedcom is indeed not great, but, still better than nothing.

I always prefer entering any data into my file myself, so I ask for a register report from anyone.
