    New User

    Good morning,

    We have just started using Reunion and the jury is out at the moment as we have used Legacy for so many years and we have imported all our data using a gedcom transfer from Legacy.

    Our question is : When we click on the Reunion icon in the tray, it doesn't open the family tree as expected but opens what we can only described as a search window whereby we have to find the right file and then have to click on that. Is there any way that we can get the programme to open up directly in the family tree i.e. can we have Reunion direct it to search for it directly?

    Regards

    The most direct way is to click on your family file, not on the Reunion application. (You probably named it with your surname, so it would be something like PCJJK.familyfile10). You can drag your family file down to the dock (which I think you are calling the tray) toward the right end, so it's always available to click on.

    If you have extensions turned off, the ".familyfile10" won't show in the Finder.

    You can also set a preference within Reunion so it automatically opens the most recently used family file when the program opens. To do this, go to the "Reunion" menu and select "Preferences...". In the window that opens, click the "Startup" icon. Make sure the box labeled "Open the most recent family file" is checked, then close the window.

      You can also set Reunion to automatically open the most recent Family File in:

      Reunion -> Preferences... , Startup

      Keep in mind the most recent Family File will only be opened if you completely quit Reunion (via Reunion -> Quit Reunion or by pressing CMD+Q) as, in OS X, clicking the red button at the top-left of a window only closes that window, not the application, and this setting is only applied when opening the application.
