    Images Linking to Family View

On Reunion 10 I have difficulty moving ancestors pictures from iPhoto to the Family view.
Sometimes it works fine but in many cases it doesn't work at all. I wonder if there are some restrictions as to photo size? Can you explain?
    Sincerely.

Normally, you should open the multimedia view and drag photos into the appropriate box (husband, wife or family). The + sign may be used to navigate to a photo via the Finder (but not into iPhoto as it is a closed system).

Your statement doesn't sound like that is what your are doing. Or I may be making a bad guess as to what you are doing....

      Hi Craig,

Sometimes when this happens it's due to a problem with the iPhoto Library; you should try rebuilding your iPhoto Library as outlined here.

Bob, your bracketed comment is not correct for current Reunion/iPhoto versions - after clicking on the + sign, if you scroll down to the "Media" section, then click on Photo, iPhoto appears - note if you have a large photo library you may get the coloured wheel for a while, but you then have full access to iPhoto - Events, Photos, Faces & Places; plus all your folders and albums. I have had the occasional 'freeze' due to having close to 10K of pics, but find this can be fixed by clicking on 'Movie' then back on 'Photos'.

I'll be hornswoggled as I hadn't tried this in some time. The part of the statement that iPhoto is a closed system is accurate, however, as Apple chose to not let users muck around in its complex internal filing system. If you know how to do an "Open Package", you can get in via the Finder but it is recommended that you don't change anything you see unless you are familiar with the filing system.

However, I'll still forgo this "convenience" for two reasons. First is the occasional change of iPhoto's internal structure which has a history of breaking links to Reunion family cards. Leister has pretty much conquered this problem with the current link repair option.

The second is more important. I put all multimedia items in one Reunion Pictures folder (with many subfolders) that resides in the Reunion Files folder. When I move over to my laptop and become a "road warrior," I copy the entire Reunion Files folder to the laptop and copy the entire thing back to my iMac when I'm back home. I have not had a single broken link in several years.

When adding a photo from iPhoto to Reunion, I drag the photo to the Desktop, rename it according to my file naming system and then drag it to my Reunion Pictures folder first then a second drag from there to the appropriate box in Multimedia view. Yes, it takes an extra few seconds at the start but it's worth it.

I have been able to drag hundreds of photos from iPhoto until today. I rebuilt the iPhoto library as suggested, but I still cannot drag the photos. Has anyone solved this problem?

              Hi Terry,

Just tried dragging photos from my iPhoto library to m/media and had no trouble at all.

In fact I've never had any problems in loading docs. or pics to the multimedia panel.

Mystery solved! The photos I wanted to add are extremely large. All others work.
