Best Photo Formats for use in Reunion

I have many family photos I wish to copy into Reunion and would ask whether it is preferable to copy into Reunion JPG files or the larger TIF files I have created for archival purposes. Will there be any practical difference in photo quality, as least when a photo is called up within the program? And I am unsure what if any impact the larger TIF file sizes may have on my Family File's performance on the MAC as opposed to JPG files.

My ultimate goal is to distribute my family file to relatives as an IPAD app and I would like the photos to be as sharp as possible. I note that some on the forum have expressed disappointment with the quality of photos on the Reunion IPAD application, so if TIF files will make a difference in that regard I would prefer to use them (assuming performance isn't degraded).

Thank you. I would test this myself but don't own an IPAD yet!

If you are already storing the photos as TIF files, I would suggest you simply drag these into Reunion. Reunion doesn't need or make a copy; it stores the path information.

I store JPEGs, and have never noticed any visible degradation, however hard I look. (But I am careful to save them only once in that format.) However, that isn't relevant for you. Use your TIF files.

When it comes to a transfer to the iPad, the software will make a copy 'optimised' for iPad. I'm not sure what this means - but it seems to leave you without further decisions to make.

    Hope that helps.
