place name changed, will not change back

I am using 10.0.6, did the latest recommended update. Everyone in my file who had Amherst Co., VA as a place for any event shows Otoe Co, NE in the family view. When I look at Places and put in Amherst Co, VA, their names show up. When I look at Places and put in Otoe Co, NE, their names show up. When I click on Otoe Co, NE and double click to edit it, it shows: Amherst Co, VA!!!!!!! I can click change and type in Amherst Co, VA, but when I go back to the family view, all of those Amherst Co, VA ancestors are in Otoe Co, NE (long before there was an Otoe Co, NE). I think I only had one legitimate entry for Otoe Co, NE before--absolutely no relation to the Amherst Co. Under Places, that entry is on the Otoe Co, NE list where it should be, and does not show on the Amherst Co. list.
I hadn't worked with this family for some time, so I don't know whether this was the case before I installed the latest update.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Have any suggestions for how to get it to change?

Hi Pat,

Did you try rebuilding cache files?

To rebuild cache files, open your family file, choose File -> Rebuild Cache Files and click Rebuild.

If problems continue afterward, I recommend that you send your family file to us, along with a reminder of the problem places.
