    how do I find...

I'm perplexed at how to find a woman who has been married more than once. I'm aware that the married name when searching is always that of the last husband. In this case there were two. I need to know if she's in my records. I think I've confused her with another woman with the same name. The record for her second marriage gives her name as Mrs. Eliza Jane Green. I have an Eliza Jane Love who married David Green which I thought was the correct one until today when I discovered that she had married her second husband in 1866 and she's shown with Mr. Green in the 1870 census. So now I need to know if I have her married to a different Green. She lived in an area in which a friend said I didn't have a family tree but rather a family bush - every other person was related so there's a strong possibility that she's there I just can't find her. If I do a search on ",Eliza" I have way too many names because all the Elizabeths are included. Hope that's clear.

If you want to do what I think you want to do:

[1] click on "FIND" in the Navbar
[2] under "Look for..." click on "Couples"
[3] set the condition: "Husband First+Mid Last" Contains "Green"
    [4] click the "And" box
[5] set the condition: "Wife First+Mid Last" Contains "Eliza Jane"
    [6] click the "Find" button

Results will show up in the results Sidebar.

      You can also try...
Search for Greene in the People sidebar.
Put a dash just before the word Greene in the search box - no space between - looks like -Greene.
This should show you any Love, Eliza Jane married to a Greene.

I think that "-Green, Eliza Jane" will actually only show Eliza Janes whose last husband was Green. If Eliza Jane was born Love, and married successively Harry Brown, Irving Green, and Leopold Black, she won't be shown. She'd show up if you typed either "-Black, Eliza" or "Love, Eliza".

The "-" indicates you're looking for a married name, but unless you've manually entered something in that field, it defaults to the name of the last husband. Previous husbands won't show up.

Dennis's method worked - I thought I'd posted a reply this morning but apparently I didn't. Thanks, Dennis. Kaye, that was the problem, as I thought I had explained - 1st marriages didn't show up.
