    Re: List all cemeteries

Another issue I have found is that if I name a Burial Place as ' cherokee, city, county, state, country' I engender another issue. When using the find for 'cherokee' it will also return any other place with Cherokee in the entry - i.e., Cherokee county NC will show up in the list.

I guess one has to consider that there are some drawbacks to these approaches and take the one that fits a personal need.

    Thanks to all who responded.

Unfortunately, I have discovered that over the years, I apparently entered the cemetery name as part of the 'place' and then quite a few I listed in the Burial > Memo field, so I seem to have a 'DUKE'S MIXTURE' in my files. Now I need to figure out how to correct them or just live with the mixture.

      Re: List all cemeteries

Well my 2 cents would be to put the cemetery name as part of the place name.

I see no downside to having 1,500 places instead of 1,200 places.

I wished I had done that from the start, and so like you I have a mix of both methods, but putting it in the place name, and then doing a "Reverse Sort" in Reunion's places list would put all of the cemeteries in a town together in the list, but as separate entities from the town itself.

Same could be true of hospitals and churches for the events that take place there too.

Roger - Good point! Any easier suggestion on how to correct a slew of files?

            Re: List all cemeteries

If you put the cemetery name in the place field, what happens when you ask Reunion to map the location? Does it find the cemetery on the map, or does it fail to find the place? And a related question: If you know the Lat Lon of the cemetery, can that be entered as the place, and have Reunion correctly find the place?

Depends on whether Google has the cemetery name in it's database. It seems to work most of the time for me.

Roger - I just changed my Cemeteries to 'Cemetery > City > State > Country' to take advantage of Reunion find features. I was able to verify a number of the confusing cemeteries by using the 'find-a-grave' process - but I'm still working on some of the names since it seems that the 'pollsters' took some liberties with the names and may be duplications. I'll have to work on those.

As you say it was a slllooowww process, but at least they are standardized and I have reduced my entry method to one instead of two. In my case, my using the place field instead of memo was a shorter method to standardize them.
