Moving & re-naming multimedia

Hi there
I have a couple of queries - If I move documents or photos around in my filing system, from folder to folder, will this affect them on Reunion?

Likewise, if I change the file name will this be a problem?

Some documents I have already attached have been named e.g. - Joe Blogs marr. 1876 and I find that only the start of the name shows under the thumbnail in the sidebar. It would be more useful to be able to see that the certificate is for the marriage e.g. Marr. 1876 Joe Blogs. I have tried changing it in the finder but it has not shown up in Reunion. Can I change it there or am I just going to end up with a mess?

It used to be necessary, when renaming or moving a multimedia item, to use Reunion's own facility for repairing the links, which worked very well. Nowadays, however, the Mac itself handles all that for you. The surprising thing is this:

I have tried changing it in the finder but it has not shown up in Reunion.

No.

I find that only the start of the name shows under the thumbnail in the sidebar.

This is because there isn't enough room in the grid of images in the sidebar to show the complete file name; however, if you hover your mouse over a thumbnail, you'll see a yellow "tool tip" appear, and it will show you the complete image description and file name.
