Not too long ago I upgraded from 8 to 10. A few years ago while using 8 I created an ancestor report of an individual that went back five generations. Since then I have added information to this line and I would like to recreate this report. But it does not look like such a report can be made in 10. It appears that the only report you can make of an individual instead of a family is the Person Sheet and it has not option for including more than that person's generation. I hope someone can help.

Re: Ancester Report
Dennis,
Thank you for your response. You are right, the Ahnentafel report can be made with only one person. But the report I made before separated out each generation with a centered heading, "First Generation", "Second Generation" etc. And it included all my notes on all the people in the five generations. When I do the Ahnentafel report none of the generations are separated, none of my notes are there. The report is only one page long instead of six and it starts with the most recent generation and moves backward. My old report began with the oldest generation and moved to the more recent ones. The Ahnentafel report is closer to my old report than anything else, but it is not the same. I thought maybe I made a bunch of small reports, and combined them myself in a world processor, but then my footnotes would not be in numerical order. If there was no change in the types of reports offered in 8 and 10 then I just have to figure out what I did. I thought maybe there had been a change.

After you click "Reports" and "Ahnentafel", you see the panel where you pick out how many generations you want, along with other options. One of these is a pull-down menu next to "Layout:". If you click on that menu and choose the option at the bottom, "Define Layouts...", another window will open where you can choose what fields are included in the report. You want to select the note fields for people and for family, so they are included. And if you select the miscellaneous settings, one of the options will be for subtitles (your choices are none, Generation, and Relationship). It sounds like you want to choose "Generation").
Once you have the layout set up the way you like it, you can use it for any future reports (and it will be the one used automatically, unless you change it).

Re: Ancester Report
Dennis,
Thank you so much for your help. I have been playing around with reports and I think I figured out what I did. I'm pretty sure I made a Register Report. It does descendents rather than ancestors, but if you start at the oldest generation then you end up with a report of the ancestors to the fifth generation. Duh. These reports are awesome and so is Reunion and so are you for helping out a part-time amateur genealogist. Thanks.
