    Cleaning up sources

I currently have over 1500 sources and they are kind of a aesthetic mess (although functionally they are fine). I was wondering if there was any advice anyone can give me on tidying them up.

First, I have a LOT of Free-Form sources that came over from Family Tree Maker when I imported my GED from there into Reunion 9 a four years ago. Looks like the first 900 sources or so are Free-Form. The rest (those that were created in Reunion) are all structured sources. The problem is that when a Free-Form source is formatted in a report, I get something like this:

    815.

I have a similar issue. I imported into Reunion from another program many years ago. I don't think there is anything but brute force to do this clean up.

I did use the preferences and set up all my source types there first with the profile fields I wanted. Then, I slowly have been profiling the sources and making sure they are fully cited.

My one wish would be that there was a flag that I could easily see in a list of sources to know whether I cleaned it up or not. I hate having to click in and out of the profile to be sure (I created my own internal field called SORT which I used to make the source list easier and more consistent for me to view and I know if the source has that that I've cleaned it up.)

In the documentation it says we should be able to add columns to a popped out window of sources (and other lists that pop out into their own window) but I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it.

    Good luck.

      Good luck.
Deena, at the bottom of the right sidebar, there is an orange icon that looks like 2 pages (rectangles). Click on that and the sidebar info will "pop out" into a separate window.

      Hope this helps.

Thank you. I do know how to pop out the window. And, I do see for the People list the little double arrows (up and down) on a column there so I can change them.

        I have two issues:

        1) I can't seem to add any more columns. I can only change the ones that are there when I can see the double arrow on the header of the column.

        2) On the Sources list in the pop out, there are no double arrows so I can't even change the columns that are there like in the People list.

        Hope that is more clear?

Click on the little yellow icon in the row of icons at the bottom of the popped out people window.

          True. Your observation is correct.
